Peppermint Trick Unveiled
"Polymint" - 15 x 20" Acrylic on Illustration Board - Artist Gina King - Latex by Polymorphe
One very interesting part of my job as an Artist is getting to work with fellow creative people. I had the amazing opportunity to collaborate with Mario Bouchard of Polymorphe Latex in Montreal to create a Latex Fashion based on my artwork. Latex fashion has always played a huge influence in my artwork, so this is one of my favorite projects. I have much to share, which will make this a two part feature.
The Journey from Art to Latex Fashion to Art
The original "Peppermint Trick" painting (as seen in the images to right) was created about five years ago & is part of a Private Collection in Seattle, WA. it is 20 x 30" Acrylic on illustration board & features minty pinup girl holding up a peppermint stick with her very large breasts.
When Mario Bouchard & I decided to created a special outfit, my fine art became the starting point for the design. The goal of this project was to make be become a living piece of art. What artist could resist that opportunity. I had always wanted a pair of the peppermint themed stocking I had painted into the original peppermint trick painting, so I started desigining with that in mind.
The original painting shows quite a bit of skin, so I wanted to add more latex to the new idea. The two elements that had to stay were the stockings & the super fun peppermint swirl pasties. I also liked the idea of the stripes on the arms. I began doodling and came up with a dress concept to send to Mario.
From there, Mario gave me feedback and some helpful hints on how to make the sketches easier to interpret. He talked about options for colors & the possibility of wearing the outfit over a white catsuit, or using his transparent raspberry latex. (my favorite color of latex).
The very next day, I sent Mario four more developed concepts. (as seen on the right. These sketches show several options for little details.
That is where I'm going to leave you for now. I hope you enjoy the new painting. Next week you will get to see Part 2 of this story
