Butcher Graphic

A new painting has arrived! This work is titled "The Butcher"
The original measures 15 x 20" (Approx 38 x 50 cm)The Butcher1

For this painting I was inspired by a photoset of Bianca Beauchamp by Martin Perreault. The original photos featured Bianca wielding a butcher knife while wearing a black latex catsuit.

Boobs, Blood &
Violence

I wanted to give this project the look of a classic horror movie poster.
With that theme in mind, I thought about what makes a successful horror movie poster? I came up with three answers: Boobs, Blood, & Violence!

Next I selected a photograph to work from, I created a study (as seen in Figure 1) using colored pencil & Sharpie markers. I added in some blood dripping from Bianca's knife & the look on her face does a good job of implying violence. But something was missing....a bit more cleavage. I took a copy of the study & played around with outfit options on the light table. (Figure 2) I decided to go with an apron. Something that I could picture a member of the Hewitt family wearing, but sexier & with some matching white gloeves.

Then it was time to paint. (Figures 3-5) For "The Butcher" I did most of the work with paintbrushes, and added in a couple of shadows with the airbrush.
